Theorems That Characterize Artifacts for Arbitrary Limited X-ray Ct Data
نویسنده
چکیده
In this article, we present theorems that completely characterize added artifacts in arbitrary limited data X-ray tomography using FBP padded by zeros. We provide examples that illustrate our theorems. Our theorems are motivated by unusual limited data sets in synchrotron tomography and practical information will appear elsewhere.

Computed tomography based attenuation correction in PET/CT: Principles, instrumentation, protocols, artifacts and future trends
The advent of dual-modality PET/CT imaging has revolutionized the practice of clinical oncology, cardiology and neurology by improving lesions localization and the possibility of accurate quantitative analysis. In addition, the use of CT images for CT-based attenuation correction (CTAC) allows to decrease the overall scanning time and to create a noise-free attenuat...
متن کاملSuzuki-type fixed point theorems for generalized contractive mappings that characterize metric completeness
Inspired by the work of Suzuki in [T. Suzuki, A generalized Banach contraction principle that characterizes metric completeness, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 136 (2008), 1861--1869], we prove a fixed point theorem for contractive mappings that generalizes a theorem of Geraghty in [M.A. Geraghty, On contractive mappings, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc., 40 (1973), 604--608]an...
متن کاملℓ0 Gradient Minimization Based Image Reconstruction for Limited-Angle Computed Tomography
In medical and industrial applications of computed tomography (CT) imaging, limited by the scanning environment and the risk of excessive X-ray radiation exposure imposed to the patients, reconstructing high quality CT images from limited projection data has become a hot topic. X-ray imaging in limited scanning angular range is an effective imaging modality to reduce the radiation dose to the p...
متن کاملLimited Tomography Reconstruction via Tight Frame and Simultaneous Sinogram Extrapolation
X-ray computed tomography (CT) is one of widely used diagnostic tools for medical and dental tomographic imaging of the human body. However, the standard filtered backprojection reconstruction method requires the complete knowledge of the projection data. In the case of limited data, the inverse problem of CT becomes more ill-posed, which makes the reconstructed image deteriorated by the artifa...
متن کاملThe effect of focal spot size on the spatial resolution of variable resolution X-ray CT scanner
Background: A variable resolution X-ray (VRX) CT scanner provides a great increase in the spatial resolution. In VRX CT scanners, the spatial resolution of the system and its field of view (FOV) can be changed according to the object size. One of the main factors that limit the spatial resolution of VRX CT scanner is the effect of the X-ray focal spot. Materials and Methods: A theoreti...
